19 of Daniil Medvedev's twenty-one championships have been won on hard surfaces

A revitalized the Russian player claimed his maiden trophy for nearly 30 months with success over Frenchman Moutet in the competition title decider.

The Russian, a ex- number one, has experienced a torrid period, winning just one win at the Grand Slams and undergoing a meltdown at the New York tournament.

Medvedev's inconsistency on the professional circuit - and issues with his serve in especial - resulted in him falling of the top ten and finally splitting with former mentor Gilles Cervara.

Now working with his coach and Rohan Goetzke, the tennis star has steadily advanced in the recent weeks - climaxing in a hard-fought competitive win over challenger Corentin Moutet.

It is Medvedev's maiden trophy following the Italian tournament and maiden on a hard court from that period of 2023.

The win also means he has secured 21 victories at twenty-one distinct competitions.

"It's the first time I'm at a competition with my both daughters together, so to get a championship is particularly special," said ranked player Medvedev.

"This victory is in dedication of my younger daughter my daughter, because the first title I got when my child Alisa was born was for her."

Medvedev, the 2021 US Open champion, had been defeated in his past six finals, featuring in that event in the past months.

The player's retrieving play style and regular reactions on the tennis court had caused some to doubt if his ability to play at the elite level was finished.

But the athlete has implemented adjustments in the past month, attempting to approach the net and play aggressively, supported by an enhanced service.

The champion came back from a disadvantage in the opening set against the tricky Frenchman, securing 4 of the last five exchanges to go ahead.

The competitors swapped breaks in the following set before the challenger, attempting for his first tour championship, seized the initiative to create a third set.

Moutet saved 4 initial break points in a close deciding set before Medvedev broke to that score to serve for the match.

Appropriately, the winner clinched the title with a point at the net area, with his opponent failing to control a return after a lengthy match.
